Navistar & JAC Aims to Produce MaxxForce Engines

www.chinabuses.org: The joint venture between Navistar International Corp and China-based bus & truck maker Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Co Ltd was launched on August 23th in Beijing. The move signals the official start of the companies' cooperation in China's market for commercial vehicle engines.
MaxxForce engines
The main product of the joint venture is the MaxxForce engines, whose standard emission could reach Euro V standard with advanced EGR technology, even close to Euro VI standard. Besides, the joint venture is also to produce 3.2L, 4.8L and 7.2L MaxxForce engines with Euro V certificate. At the same time, Navistar planned to adopt ICT+ emission standard for export in the future. The competitiveness of JAC products is reflected in quality and cost. Compared with the similar products, JAC products won't be too expensive.
"Engine production is an area with a considerable amount of profits," JAC president An Jing said. The joint venture is expected to be a win-win situation. JAC will leverage Navistar's advanced fuel-efficient "clean engine" technology, and meanwhile share its light diesel engine technology.
In recent years, JAC focused on the development of light commercial vehicles with engines under 2.8 liters, but lacked resources in heavy-duty engine production. The joint venture will compensate for this deficiency as the products slated for the first phase of the 3 billion yuan investment are all made for medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. Commercial vehicles will continue to play an important role in China's booming economy, and there is still much room for quality improvement.
