Increasing Blooming of LNG Buses in China

14 October 2011

www.chinabuses.org: Currently, LNG (liquefied natural gas) is regarded as top fuel after petrol in many countries and it grows at 12% annually in the world. The advantages of LNG buses growingly appear apparent in bus industry.

Required by National Strategy and Requirements of Corporation

In face of energy-saving and environment protection, the State lays out a series of policies in succession to encourage companies to carry on energy-saving, emission-reducing and low-carbon economy. At present, natural gas resources have been transmitted from rich sources to our major cities and provinces, including Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui and Henan; areas surrounding Bohai Sea, Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta importing from Central Asia and Russia; LNG stations along the coast to import resources from Indonesia, Australia and Qatar.

Popular in City Bus Market

In recent years, LNG motor vehicles develop fast, and the operation of LNG buses have been made first in the cities such as Beijing, Urumqi and Changsha. Not long before, Jiangsu Zhejiang Jiangtian Auto Transport Group publicly invited the tender for 18 units and Yutong Bus won the bidding of 13 units of ZK6110HN9 buses. In 2010, the bus operator purchased 10-meter  Huanghai DD6109S28 city buses in Dalian.

Active Bus Builders for the Development of LNG Buses

It is known that Huanghai Bus has signed the cooperative agreement with German MAN for the technology of fuel buses since 2006 and has improved the level of manufacturing and designing of products. In the end of this June, Dongfeng Motor Company has launched big power LNG engines, which have been approved by the related project of National Program 863. According to the incomplete statistics, the market shares of Yuchai LNG engines account for 80%. And the LNG buses equipped with Yuchai LNG engines have been operated in Zhanjiang, Haikou, Sanya, Hangzhou and Guizhou in mass production.
