Analysis on Industry Development of China New Energy Vehicles
01 September 2011
www.chinabuses.org: In 2001, research project of new energy vehicles was listed in “863 Plan” during the 10th five-year and the strategy was planned about changing the power of vehicles from gasoline to hydrogen. Since the 11th five-year, with “energy-saving and new energy vehicles” strategy put forward, the government has paid high attention to developing and industrializing new energy vehicles.
In 2008, new energy vehicles started to boom all over China and the year 2008 was regarded as the first year of new energy vehicle era. From January to December in 2008, the sales growth of new energy vehicles mainly reflected in passenger vehicles which were sold 889 units, year-on-year rises of 117%, but new energy commercial vehicles were sold 1536 units, decreasing 17% from the same period.
In 2009, thanks to intensive support policies, new energy vehicles developed fast. Though the portion of new energy vehicles in China vehicle market was very small, growth potential of commercial vehicles showed up. From January to November in 2009, passenger vehicles of new energy were sold 310 units, decreasing 61.96%, on the contrary, commercial vehicles like LPG, LNG and hybrid buses were sold 4034 units, year-on-year rises of 1789.98%, which represented the rapid growth of commercial market.
In 2010, China authorities increased their support to new energy vehicles and provided the private with subsidies for purchasing new energy vehicles in Shanghai, Changchun, Shenzhen, Hangzhou and Hefei. In July 2010, pilot cities of energy-saving and new energy vehicle demonstration increased from 20 to 30.
New energy vehicles are the future of vehicle industry due to energy lacking and environmental protection. During the 12th five-year, China new energy vehicles would step into industrialization phase which started from 2011 to 2015 and new energy city buses, hybrid cars and small electric vehicles were promoted. During the 13th five-year (2016-2020), ordinary families would have new energy vehicles, multi-energy hybrid vehicles, plug-in electric cars and HFC vehicles.
