Zhongtong Z6 Electric Buses Launch Jiangzi’s First Urban Bus Route in Xizang

08 September 2026

At an elevation of 4,000 meters, Jiangzi—an ancient town on the Qinghai-Xizang Plateau—has reached a historic milestone in public transportation. The recent handover and launch ceremony for the county’s ring-road public transport project marked the official opening of Jiangzi’s very first urban bus route, powered by Zhongtong Z6 battery-electric buses.
For years, Jiangzi lacked intra-city bus services. The new ring-road route fills this gap, laying a crucial foundation for integrated urban-rural transport, county-level economic development, and improved quality of life for residents.
The Zhongtong Z6 models are specifically engineered to meet the challenges of plateau operations. They feature targeted upgrades in power performance, thermal management, safety, and ride comfort. Equipped with an intelligent thermal control system, liquid heating for power batteries, and cold-resistant battery compartment designs, the buses maintain stable charge-discharge efficiency and reliable range even in low temperatures.
Safety systems—including braking, high-voltage protection, and plateau-adapted components—are reinforced with features such as electrically defrostable rear-view mirrors, snow driving mode, anti-rollback, and accelerator mis-operation prevention. These ensure driver confidence and passenger safety on icy roads and steep slopes.
Inside, the passenger cabin offers efficient heating, priority seating for vulnerable groups, USB charging ports, and an air-suspension driver’s seat, significantly enhancing the travel experience.
The ring-road project is a livelihood initiative under the Shanghai-Xizang pairing assistance program and a key step in Jiangzi’s strategy to integrate transport with cultural tourism development.
Today, the Zhongtong Z6 buses link residential areas, schools, hospitals, commercial zones, and tourist attractions across the county, covering residents’ daily travel needs. Serving also as mobile platforms for red-themed education, they symbolize a convergence of public welfare and cultural-tourism vitality.
