China Largest Bus Export Order: 3,000 Higer Buses Depart for Algeria
09 January 2026
The new year opens with powerful momentum. On January 8, 2026, a fleet of 3,000 premium buses stood in perfect formation at the Higer production campus in Suzhou, poised to embark on a journey across mountains and seas to Algeria. This shipment constitutes the single largest export order in the history of China’s bus industry. It marks a resounding “red-letter day” for Chinese manufacturing in 2026 and signals a new era in which China’s mobility solutions are becoming deeply integrated into global supply chains, serving the daily travel needs of people worldwide.

Representatives from the Algerian Embassy in China and key customers gathered at the departure ceremony to witness this milestone moment.
Chen Feng, Chairman of King Long Motor Group, officially declared the fleet on its way

The shipment comprises 3,000 vehicles, including 8-meter and 11-meter models from the New V Series and 12-meter monocoque city buses, forming a core part of Algeria’s “10,000 Bus Renewal Plan”. Amid intense international competition, Higer Bus secured this landmark order thanks to its superior product performance, established brand influence, and strong overseas market presence.

Since its first buses entered the Algerian market in 2005, Higer has built a presence there for over two decades. Evolving from simple product exports to setting up local knockdown (KD) factories, the company has now surpassed cumulative sales of 10,000 units and maintains the leading market share—completing a transition from “going global” to “taking root.” Adhering to a localization strategy, Higer has continuously refined its product designs and service systems to suit Algeria’s high temperatures, sandy conditions, and complex roads, while aligning with local user preferences. Today, Higer buses are deeply integrated into Algeria’s socio-economic fabric, playing a vital role in connecting urban and rural areas and serving public mobility.

The New V Series buses delivered in this batch were developed over three years and represent a major leap in safety. They are equipped with an Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system to effectively prevent skidding, comply with international safety standards such as R66 and R118.2, and feature side outward-opening emergency escape windows along with independent emergency lighting. For after-sales support, Higer has designed a tailored service package: dispatching technical teams for on-site assistance, establishing resident service mechanisms, deploying service stations in key operational areas, and conducting preventive maintenance via smart management platforms. This integrated “product + service” solution exemplifies the transformation of Chinese manufacturing from purely exporting goods to delivering full-value-chain offerings.

At the ceremony, Algerian customer representatives spoke highly of Higer, stating, “After rigorous testing, the New V Series buses have demonstrated excellent performance in both long-distance transport across the Sahara and urban bus operations. This delivery will greatly enhance our operational efficiency and service quality, better meeting the travel needs of local residents.”

As fireworks lit up the sky, the fleet pulled out of the factory, embarking on its long journey to Algeria. More than a large-scale product delivery, this moment stands as a testament to the deepening friendship between China and Algeria and a vivid example of the Belt and Road principles of “extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits.” Moving forward, Chinese manufacturing will continue to contribute its expertise and strength to infrastructure development and the improvement of livelihoods in partner countries through higher-quality products and services.
