268 Units: BYD Secures Major Electric Bus Order in Belgium
22 December 2025
BYD has won a substantial follow-on order for 268 electric buses from Belgian public-transport operator De Lijn. This marks the first major batch delivered under the 500-unit, 12-meter e-bus framework agreement signed by the two parties in 2023, injecting renewed momentum into Belgium's bus electrification roadmap and solidifying BYD's established reputation for reliability and advanced technology in the European market.

This repeat order is a direct vote of confidence from De Lijn, reflecting BYD's proven operational performance on Belgian routes. The confirmed model for this delivery is the B12.b, which features BYD's innovative CTC (cell-to-chassis) Blade Battery integration. This design optimizes interior space and enables a full low-floor layout, ensuring ease of access and a comfortable passenger experience.
De Lijn aims to transition to a fully electric bus fleet by 2035. The first batch of BYD buses began service in Antwerp in June 2024, receiving positive feedback from both passengers and operators for their quiet, efficient, and dependable operation—a foundation that directly enabled this expanded partnership.

"BYD is proud to support De Lijn on its journey toward zero-emission public transport by 2035," said Li Ke, BYD Executive Vice-President. "The B12.b embodies our core technologies, advanced safety standards, and superior energy efficiency, delivering clean, silent, and comfortable travel. We will continue working closely with our partners to help electrify mobility in Belgium and fulfill our shared commitment to a sustainable future."
Leveraging its deep expertise in new-energy technology, a vertically integrated supply chain, and validated real-world operating experience, BYD has become a leading force in Europe's e-mobility transition. The company has now delivered over 5,000 commercial vehicles across the continent, serving more than 160 cities in 26 countries, collectively accumulating over 650 million kilometers and reducing CO₂ emissions by an estimated 690,000 tonnes.
