Sluggish Tyre Export in Kunshan in the First Half Year
10 July 2013
www.chinabuses.org: According to statistics of Kunshan Engry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, in the first six months of 2013, Kunshan exports 3,529 tyres, worth 274.9 million USD with quantity leveling off with last year but sales amount down by 15.5%. The export of tyre suffers depression.
Jiangsu province is an important base in China to export tyre while Kunshan takes up 1/3 of the export in Jiangsu. Kunshan exports tyres for cars, buses, trucks, bicycles, motor cars, and industry-used vehicles to 100 countries and regions in the world such as the U.S., EU, Mexico, Canada, Russia, Brazil, Australia, Japan, Middle East, Africa and others. Tyres for cars, light trucks and buses are main products. The U.S. and Europe are major markets for Kunshan, accounting for half of total exports.
The main reason for the sluggish tyre export market is the frequently occurred trade barriers and protectionism. Over recent years, the U.S., Brazil, Thailand, Colombia, Mexico and other countries launch anti-dumping investigation on China’s tyre products. Particularly, the EU regulation on labelling of tyres effective on November 1, 2012 hinders the export of China’s tyres. Affected by this, Kunshan only exports 34.23 million USD to EU in the first half of 2013, down by 27.8% year on year. EU is Kunshan’s second largest market. The downturn in EU market leads to a great decline of total export.
