Hybrid-electric Powertrain Starts New Era

English.chinabuses.com: News from Scania says that it is starting extensive operational trials of a unique hybrid-electric powertrain designed to improve fuel economy and emissions by at least 25 percent. Comparing to the diesel, it can reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by up to 90 percent fuelling by ethanol. The key part of energy storage modules can use 10-15 years long.
The new hybrid powertrain is through five years research in Scania Technical Center and it opens many opportunities to improve the attractiveness of future city buses.
