ZF Sachs Exports to Japan from China

In order to lower the production costs, German company ZF Sachs AG started shipping clutches from its Shanghai plant to Japan recently. The China-made clutches will replace parts ZF Sachs currently that sources from its plant in Europe.
According to an original export plan, ZF Sachs is going to export nearly 100,000 sets of clutches to Japan in 2009 from China.
Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (SAIC) and German ZF Sachs AG set up a 50-50 joint venture plant to produce mechanical clutches for manual transmissions and torque converter clutches for automatic transmissions. At present, ZF Sachs already exports torsion dampers from China to Hyundai in Korea.
