Bangkok Wants 2,000 More NGV Buses
09 February 2009
The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) will propose leasing an additional 2,000 natural-gas-for-vehicle (NGV) buses for approval by the Thai Cabinet after recently finishing the terms of reference for the first batch of 4,000.
After procuring the first batch of 4,000 NGV buses, the BMTA will propose leasing another 2,000 NGV buses. Moreover, she will open the chance for private bus operators to join the project. The BMTA has completely amended the terms of reference (ToR) for the first batch of 4,000 NGV buses.
The amendment will allow the import of 2,000 buses and order 2,000 from local manufacturers. It will be opened for bidding in February 2009. The winning bidder will have to deliver 4,000 buses within 18 months or in two installments of 2,000 each.
