08 July 2013
www.chinabuses.org: It is learnt on July 5, 2013 that Dalian government completes a bus procurement program, the largest one in recent years. The program involves 713 buses with a total value worth 383 million RMB, 14 million RMB lower than expectation. All buses are new-energy ones compliant with China Ⅳ standard. It is said that those buses will put into use starting form the end of July and all in service before National Games of the People's Republic of China.
Dalian Public Transit Group has more than 3,800 buses. In this procurement, there are fully electric, hybrid, LNG buses and China Ⅳ-compliant diesel buses. The quantity of the procurement accounts for 1/5 of the former total, which will change the proportion of energy buses in Dalian. If possible, Dalian Public Transit Group will purchase 1,000 LNG buses more during the “Eleventh Five-Year” period, and the total number of LNG buses will be 1,500.
Dalian has been leading ahead in public transport thanks to years of support of municipal financial bureau. Since 2011, the municipal financial bureau has been raising funds to replace buses. In three years, the funds accumulate to 920 million RMB and 1,775 buses are replaced, over 40% of total buses in Dalian. Director of the financial bureau Li Shengjun says that the urban bus is a key project of people’s livelihood. Over recent years, the municipal financial bureau has been increasing investment and put bus purchasing into government procurement to ensure a normative process of procurement. In future, the municipal financial bureau will support the development of public transit as always to guarantee the progress of public cause.
