EU Releases Decision on Safety Requirements for Certain Seats for Children
10 May 2013
www.chinabuses.org: In the past few days, European Commission has released 2013/121/EU decision on the safety requirements to be met by European standards for certain seats for children.
European standard for table-mounted chair is not referenced in the Official Journal of the European Union and no European standards exist for children's chairs or for chair-mounted seats. Therefore, European Commission released the above requirements.
These requirements apply to four chairs for children, including chair-mounted seats, children's chairs, children's high chairs and table-mounted chairs. Taking children's chairs for example, followings must be taken into account:
1. Entrapment hazards from gaps and openings;
2. Hazards associated with moving parts;
3. Castors and wheels;
4. Falling hazards;
5. Stability;
6. Choking, suffocation and ingestion hazards;
7. Surfaces and Hazardous edges;
8. Structural integrity.
