Isuzu Launches Erga Hybrid Route Bus

www.chinabuses.org: On Aug. 9 2012, Isuzu Motors Ltd. launched sales Thursday of its ERGA Hybrid Bus, a new hybrid large route bus that boasts both a diesel engine and an electric motor. The new bus is some 9 pct more fuel-efficient than existing diesel-only models.

The ERGA Hybrid Bus is a parallel-hybrid fixed-route bus incorporating a diesel engine, an electric motor/generator, and a high-capacity, high-output lithium ion battery. Thanks to a high-efficiency diesel engine, compliant with Japan’s "Post New Long-Term Emissions Regulations", and AMT (automated manual transmission), this bus achieves remarkable environmental performance and fuel efficiency, as well as easy, efficient operation. Its motor assist for startup and regenerative braking for deceleration are ideally suited to the frequent stops and starts of a fixed-route bus.
