Shanghai Releases the First Local Standard on Safety Management of School Buses

www.chinabuses.org: Shanghai Government releases the first compulsory standard on safety management of elementary & secondary schools and kindergartens and the standard will come into force on January 1st, 2012.
Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision SHEN, Weimin said that four kinds of persons composed the safety management system, including safety management director, safety management representative, security manager and security guard.
Four kinds of activities are forbidden in schools, including making students participate emergency rescues; setting off fireworks; commercial activities; renting school grounds for production and storage of toxic and dangerous goods.
Furthermore, from 2012, 2200 school buses must be painted lemon yellow and school-owned buses must be pasted purple or white outdoor stickers with “School Bus” in body, door sides and bus tail. Emergency hammer and switch are indispensable and at least one person should accompany the students. Common public schools for compulsory education students in central area should not have school buses.
