Scania's Ambition for the Next Decade
30 November 2009
www.chinabuses.org: Selling 150,000 vehicles per year by around 2015 is Scania's vision for the next decade. This growth will occur in an expanding total market and by means of a greater presence in markets and in segments where there is potential for increased sales of Scania vehicles and services. The road to 150,000 vehicles will also go via continued capital-efficient utilization of Scania’s development and production resources.
There are suitable macroeconomic conditions for continued expansion in commercial vehicle demand. In the next several years, annual growth in mature economies is expected to be about 2 percent. These fast-growing markets will be increasingly important to Scania, which expects this trend to be lasting. Asia and the Pacific are of increasing importance to Scania, which estimates its annual sales potential at 15,000 vehicles around 2015. Scania’s growth will primarily occur in segments where there is demand for efficient transport and for vehicles with high technology content, good performance and high uptime.
Scania is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of trucks and buses for heavy transport applications, and of industrial and marine engines. Employing 35,000 people, Scania operates in about 100 countries.
