After overall inspection, we chose Foton Euro Ⅴ hybrid bus since its comparatively high cost performance. And this is only the first patch amounting to 75,000,000 Yuan (about 10,985,308 USD). And we will continue to buy as many as over 700 hybrid buses from Foton in future,” revealed by Wu Xizhong, general manager of Taiwan Chengyun Automobile manufacture Co., Ltd.

Officials in Taiwan test ride on Foton hybrid buses, warmly reported by local media
During the news conference, Hao Longbin said, apart from benefiting disadvantaged groups, hybrid and low chassis buses can powered with electricity in low speed with 30% fuel efficient than traditional diesel buses, which is in line with new energy policy in Taiwan. Zhou Xiwei also said, there is no easy to do this, and Taipei and Taipei County should cooperate to make Taipei a low-carbon and clean city.
It’s learned that Taiwan has been carrying forward new energy policy vigorously in recent years. As planed by the regulatory body of Taiwan, energy should be saved 15.5% by 2010, and 23.7% by 2020, and the energy efficiency should be promoted by 20% by 2020. Several years ago, they’ve done a feasibility analysis for use of hybrid buses in Taiwan. Recently, Taiwan Environmental Protection Agency started Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Development Plan. Born congenitally deficient, the market demand of Taiwan car industry is nearly saturate, so this is a very good chance for China mainland to enter Taiwan.
