"In the near future, it’s possible to use electricity instead of millions of tons of oil in our country." Yang Yusheng, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, said on the 4th South China Lithium Battery (International) High-Level Technical Forum on May 23, 2009.

 

It is learned that using lithium-ion battery for pure eclectic autos has become international competition focus, domestic and foreign enterprises have invested quite a lot in the study of power lithium-ion battery, and China has the conditions for lithium-ion battery development. There are pure electric buses running In Beijing, Hangzhou, Shanghai and other cities, battery energy, life expectancy, and cost performance is constantly increasing.

 
Yang Yusheng said, currently power-type storage battery is in the fast progress, during the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and Paralympics Games, there were 595 new energy autos, most of which were eclectic autos ,especially the 55 buses used lithium manganate and lithium iron phosphate as anode during the Olympic games.   

  
Yang Yusheng thought, priority should be given to pure electric autos development. He explained, "Pure electric autos which do not use oil meet China's national conditions, autos with 8-13 degree electricity can travel 100 kilometers, and its structure is simple, non-circuit, water and land, air routes, easy maintenance, save materials and energy."
