Nearly 300 Higer High-end Buses Escort the French Olympic Games

08 August 2024

Nearly 300 Higer premium buses are still on the mission to support the 2024 Paris Olympic Games as the fierce competition continues, accompanying the Olympic athletes on their journey to pursue dreams in Paris.

On the athletic field, national teams compete for gold and silver medals, while off the field, Higer buses are dedicated to providing support. Occupying over 90% of the market share of China high-end buses exported overseas, how did Higer take the lead in pursuing dreams in Paris and win the "gold medal" for its popular sales in Europe?

During the Paris Olympic Games, over 200 Touring premium luxury buses produced by Higer, under the Scania Higer brand, are providing comfortable and convenient transportation services to global audiences and athletes.

It is understood that a leading passenger transport service provider in France has highly praised and favored this China-made high-end buses. They have been purchasing these buses in bulk since 2011 and promoting their use in various branches worldwide, with wide applications in high-end tourism, school bus operations, and other fields.

According to Higer staff, the Touring bus was the first batch of China-made high-end buses to enter the French market in 2011. "The popular model is the 12.86-meter-long, 59+1-seat version. Its highlights include a sleek and atmospheric design, lightweight body frame structure, spacious interior, and 300kg luggage capacity. Details such as air-conditioning with internal circulation and foot warming systems ensure a comfortable indoor temperature. Considering the French people's fondness for coffee and other beverages, the bus is equipped with an integrated kitchen, including cold water and a coffee machine, which has gained customer favor."

Combining the chassis advantages of Scania, known as the "King of the World's Roads," with the vehicle manufacturing strengths of Higer buses, the Touring premium luxury bus was first launched at the World Bus Expo in Belgium in 2009, setting a global benchmark for high-end buses. After its upgrade in 2017, the Touring bus further enhanced its market share in the high-end bus segment with its richly configured and intelligent driving environment, higher passenger comfort, greater load capacity, significantly reduced fuel consumption, and top-notch after-sales service support.

As of now, the Touring premium luxury bus is sold in over 50 countries, including France, Germany, Italy, the UK, and Australia, with cumulative sales exceeding 4,000 units in the European market, accounting for over 90% of the market share of China high-end buses exported overseas.

It is expected that 7 million tourists will visit during the Olympic Games, posing challenges to Paris's public transportation services.

Over 80 Fencer F6 intercity buses exported to France are serving as airport buses and school buses, providing public transportation services during the Olympic Games.

Higer staff indicated that the Fencer F6, a two-axle gas model, meets the EU M3 Class II standard. With an extreme length of 13 meters and equipped with ultra-thin seats, it achieves optimal space utilization for accommodating 63 passengers. The low-floor design and the installation of a wheelchair lift at the middle door set a good example for the European high-end market.

It is reported that the F6 is one of the products in the Scania Higer Fencer family platform. In May 2021, the first body product of the Fencer platform, the F1, was officially launched in the UK. Upon its debut, it stood at the forefront of the world's public transport bus industry. In October 2023, during the Belgium Bus Expo, Higer high-end zero-carbon sub-brand, the Fencer F1 electric bus, was launched in Europe, once again occupying a top position in the pure electric bus segment.

In Europe, the birthplace of buses and the land of modern bus technology innovation, how has Higer buses achieved high-end upgrades in the value chain and occupied a central position in China high-end buses exported overseas for many years?

This is attributed to the successful collaboration between Scania and Higer since 2006, which has established a "third mode of cooperation" in the bus industry, both domestically and internationally. Starting from the global high-end market, Scania Higer dual-brand buses have won at the starting line.

The core factor enabling Higer buses to seize the strategic high ground of high-end buses and transition "from domestic excellence to international excellence" is, of course, their commitment to independent innovation, acceleration of smart manufacturing capabilities, and sharing the "China bus solution" in the fields of clean energy and new energy with the world.

Over the past two decades of internationalization, Higer has deeply collaborated with global partners, expanding its business footprint to over 130 countries and regions worldwide and exporting nearly 50,000 buses in total.
