On December 23, a batch of mini city buses equipped with Dongfeng Dana EP6 electric drive axles officially started operation in Japan, receiving coverage from such major national media outlets as NHK, Yomiuri Shimbun, Nishinippon Shimbun and TSR.

According to the bus operator, it is the first time for the electricity powered mini city buses made in China to obtain operation permit from Japanese government. During the whole decision-making process of the bus operator, Dongfeng Dana EP6 electric drive axle played an indispensable role. Having successfully cut its weight by over 150 kg, the axle has further improved its overall efficiency by 3% compared with a direct drive axle and is able to improve vehicle’s continuous driving distances.

Amazed by the vehicle’s ability to recycle energy, a local bus driver raised his thumb when taking an interview, saying “The electric mini city bus drives very smoothly. And it is much quieter than those fossil powered counterparts.”

Apart from Japan, Dongfeng Dana EP6 electric drive axle has also successfully made its way to Australia. In 2022, EP8 electric drive axles were also exported to customers in the UK.
