Get there faster, safely

Allison Transmission has spent decades designing and building fully automatic transmissions that deliver exactly what emergency responders need to get the job done. Continuous Power Technology™ provides superior launch and uninterrupted engine power to the wheels for up to 35 percent faster acceleration and greater maneuverability in tight urban spaces. Rescue and fire crews worldwide experience the unrivalled quality, performance and control that Allison transmissions deliver during an emergency as they arrive first at the scene.

Traffic congestion, narrow streets and high-speed merging are daily challenges for fire and rescue drivers, but Allison fully automatic transmissions deliver superior vehicle control and smooth maneuvering. Unlike manual or automated manual transmissions, Allison technology features a patented torque converter in place of a dry clutch, providing precise inching capabilities and a cushioning effect that virtually eliminates driveline shocks.

Optimally tailored to operator needs

Allison offers fully automatic transmissions to suit the needs of any fleet. The 1000 Series™ is designed to meet the operational requirements for ambulance, fire-fighting and command vehicles, while both 3000 Series and 4000 Series™ models are ideal for special-purpose vehicles like turntable ladders, aerial lifts, water tenders and airfield crash trucks.
Additionally, all Allison Automatics are fitted with the latest 5th Generation electronic controls, with enhanced programming and advanced software to ensure ideal shift schedules and a number of safety-related functions for emergency applications. Also available are Power Take-Off (PTO) provisions, which deliver maximum power to specialized equipment.  An optional hydraulic retarder available on 3000 Series and 4000 Series models can handle virtually the entire braking demand in most situations.
