www.chinabuses.org: Allison’s latest fuel-saving solutions and transmission technology unveiled at the Beijing International Exhibition of Bus and Truck Components.
BEIJING – With the implementation of national emission standard V, the Chinese commercial vehicle industry is expecting effective energy-saving solutions. To address this pressing need, Allison Transmission introduced FuelSense at the 2014 Beijing International Exhibition of Bus and Truck Components themed “Green, Safe and Intelligent.”
FuelSense is a unique package of advanced software combined with 5th generation electronic control efficiencies that can boost fuel savings by up to 20 percent. FuelSense maximizes transmission efficiency based on actual vehicle load, grade and duty cycle, while still delivering the ease of operation and dependability expected from Allison.
FuelSense features include:
5th generation electronic controls for acceleration management, including a precision inclinometer.
EcoCal low and “super” low speed shift schedules designed to keep engine speed at its optimum point, maintaining necessary performance without shift cycling.
Dynamic Shift Sensing which automatically selects between the EcoCal or a higher –speed shift schedule based on the vehicle’s weight and the surface operating grade.
Neutral at Stop which reduces or eliminates the load on the engine when the vehicle is stopped, reducing non-productive fuel consumption.
Acceleration Rate Management which mitigates aggressive driving practices by automatically controlling engine torque. The intensity of control is determined by the vehicles, weight and the grade on which it is operating.
“FuelSense adapts to driving conditions. It takes fuel saving efficiency to a whole new level by utilizing smart technology.” said Steven Chew, managing director of Allison Transmission in China.
With FuelSense vehicles equipped with an Allison automatic maintain outstanding performance while optimizing fuel utilization. This innovation in fuel savings resulted in Allison earning the “2014 Best Environmental Protection Technology Product” award at the China Road Transport Cup competition.
FuelSense is a solution for global and Chinese OEM product portfolios in the commercial vehicle industry to promote green development within the sector.
As important representatives of innovative technologies and trends in the commercial vehicle industry, leading OEMs all showed their Allison-equipped clean energy products at the exhibition. China Youngman Automobile Group officially debuted its Future Star JNP6123GNV bus, equipped with a Yuchai LNG engine and an Allison T280R transmission.
"Not only does this meet the national emission standard, the combination of a natural gas engine and an Allison automatic transmission is the best solution to a national demand for clean energy, minimum fuel consumption, energy conservation and emission reductions,” said Bao Xuyang, deputy marketing director of Youngman Vehicle Group Ltd. Co.
Future Star JNP6123GNV buses were delivered to Urumqi last November, serving as the first “ring road express city bus” line. “The application of fully automatic transmissions will be an irreversible trend in the public transit industry. In the future, Youngman Group will expand usage of this natural gas bus to cope with the increasing demand for customized commercial service, group transportation, city bus transit service, passenger transport on highways and tourism,” said Bao.
