Double Victory for ZF in the "Best Commercial Vehicles and Brands 2014" Readers' Choice
10 June 2014
www.chinabuses.org: In the ETM publishing house's "The Best Commercial Vehicles and Brands 2014" readers' choice, ZF again enjoyed a double success: taking first place for the tenth consecutive year in the "Commercial vehicle transmission" product group. In the "Retarder" category, the readers chose the ZF-Intarder as the winner. The criteria making the technology company's products the permanent favorite among the public are primarily reliability and economy.

In the ETM publishing house's readers' choice of the "lastauto omnibus", "trans aktuell", and "Fernfahrer" trade journals, which is supervised by a notary, ZF defended its top positions: Since the introduction of the "The Best Brands" choice ten years ago, ZF products such as the AS Tronic automatic transmission system for trucks and buses or the EcoLife 6-speed automatic transmission for buses keep showing up on the winners' podium. Over 61 percent of readers remained impressed by ZF's automatic and manual truck and bus transmissions in 2014 and voted ZF as "Best Brand" in the "Commercial vehicle transmission" category. In addition, the ZF-Intarder yet again convinced the readers in the "Retarder" category. This almost wear-free hydrodynamic auxiliary brake makes transport safer and more economical.

"We are delighted by the continuous top ranking," says Andreas Moser, Head of the Axle & Transmission Systems for Buses & Coaches business unit of ZF Friedrichshafen AG. "The fact that manufacturers, fleet operators, and drivers continue to esteem our products confirms that we always define the right focus for our development and production," stated Mr. Moser. This year, the high reliability and economy of ZF products were again decisive for the positive assessment of the readers of the three trade journals. ZF-TraXon, the future automatic transmission system for heavy trucks, is an example: It consists of a basic transmission that, depending on the customer's request, can be combined with five different drive elements as a module.
