Cummins High-powered Engine R&D Center Built in Chongqing

www.chinabuses.org:On 17th March 2014, reporters from the New North Zone Administrative Committee was informed that its contract with Cummins high-horsepower engine technology R&D center and big horsepower engine production line project was formally signed, marking the world's largest independent engine manufacturer Cummins settling in New North Zone.
It is reported that Cummins is the world's largest independent engine manufacturer, also one of the U.S. Fortune 500 companies. Cummins and China's history can be traced back to over half a century. It was the first western diesel engine company to perform localized production in China. Its first joint-venture engine plant with China, Chongqing Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. was established in 1995.
Under the agreement, Cummins high-horsepower engine technology R&D center and big horsepower engine production line project will purchase 400 acres of land with an investment of about $ 180 million, introducing electronically controlled engines like QSK50, QSK60, QSK72 and developing gas engines. After the high-powered engine technology R&D center and big horsepower engine production line project is completed, it is expected to achieve annual sales income of $ 1 billion within five years, and $ 2 billion within ten years.
New North Zone Administrative Committee official said that with the Cummins project settling, the New North Zone experienced improvement in modern equipment manufacturing industry took the step of the industrial structure adjustment. The project brought in new business opportunities for the economic development of Chongqing.
