www.chinabuses.org: On September 19, China’s automaker BYD announced that it would further expand its electric vehicle (EV) factory in the USA in the next three years, creating more job opportunities for local people in Lancaster, the city where its factory is located.

Since the establishment of its factory in the USA in 2013, BYD has gained enormous supports from California state government and Lancaster city council. In the meantime, the presence of BYD has also injected much needed new dynamics for the local economy, bringing hundreds of jobs for local people.

Thanks to the concerted efforts between Chinese and American employees, BYD US EV factory has rolled out a number of electric buses. On the back of their high quality and state-of-art technologies, these vehicles have been gaining rising popularity in the US market. Given the high demand and its commitment to developing the local economy, BYD is highly confident that the new move signifies more environmentally friendly vehicles for US passengers.

Currently, BYD US EV factory covers an area of 8,000 square meters and employs over 300 workers from the local community. It boasts an annual production volume of 300 units electric buses, which are chiefly used for urban public transportation.

According to BYD’s initial plan, the company will expand its EV factory area to 37,000 square meters in the next three years. Then, it will be able to roll out 1,000 units electric vehicles each year, ranging from electric buses, electric trucks, to special vehicles.

In October, 2011, BYD North America was officially set up in Los Angeles. In May 2013, BYD US EV Factory was set up in Lancaster, a city to the north of Los Angeles. Since its establishment, the factory has been actively involved in producing electric buses and power batteries. Currently, it boasts unrivaled technologies in vehicle-used batteries and bus manufacturing technologies.
