1,500 New Energy Buses Will Start Operation in Shanghai in 2016

www.chinabuses.org: It is revealed at New Energy Vehicles, Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Branch of Shanghai Transport and Transportation Association that the city will further speed up the application of new energy technologies in the transportation sector this year. In the public transportation sector alone, 1,500 units new energy buses will be put on the road in Shanghai. In the meantime, the recharging posts at sixteen bus terminals will also finish their construction work at the end of this year.
It is required that over 50% of the newly replaced city buses must be equipped with new energy drivelines from 2016. By 2018, the percentage will rise to 70%. To achieve this, over 1,000 units new energy buses will join Bus Group’s fleet and over 300 units from Pudong Public Transport Company will also start operation.
After the construction work of the recharging posts at bus terminals on Neijiang Road, Tianshan Road, Caobao Road, Nanchen Road, and Guojiang Road, the recharging facilities for new energy vehicles at Xinzhuang, Xietu Road, Gonghe Xin Road, Zhennan Road, Baoyang Road, Jinshan, Chongmingbao Town, and Nanmen will also put into use within this year. Pudong Public Transport will also finish building recharging facilities at eight bus terminals. Plus those already in use in Songjiang, Qingpu and Jiading, Shanghai will boasts 23 bus terminals which are equipped with recharging facilities for new energy vehicles.
