15 October 2015
www.chinabuses.org: Solaris will present further models of its new bus generation at Busworkd Kortrijk. The zero-emission new Urbino 12 electric and the new Urbino 12 LE, developed mainly for suburban routes, will be available to see at the Solaris stand.
Having had its world premiere at IAA Commercial Vehicles exhibition in Hanover in 2014, Solaris’s new generation city buses in 12-metre as well as 18-metre versions have already found buyers in European countries and have been very well received by operators and customers.
At Busworld 2015, Solaris will unveil further models of the new Urbino. Introducing this new battery-powered bus and the full-size lowentry bus will represent the next stage of the major generation change Solaris has been making since last year.
New Solaris Urbino 12 electric Emission-free and clean, the electric bus in Solaris’s new design constitutes the most innovative item in the Solaris portfolio. The new 12-metre Urbino electric is fitted with the 3rd generation ZF AVE 130 electric drive with axle-mounted motors. This concept frees up space for passengers and significantly reduces the weight of the vehicle. Additional weight savings result from the underlying design of the new Urbino, which is several hundred kilograms lighter than its predecessor. The batteries, mounted at the back of the bus, deliver 240 kWh. They can be topped up via a pantograph installed on the roof. Also a traditional plug-in connection has been provided. Three battery-powered new Urbino have already been ordered by üstra Hannover City Transport.
New Solaris Urbino 12 LE The 12-metre low-entry bus in the new design is the latest addition to the Solaris intercity buses range. Thanks to the new concept of the bodyframe, the new Urbino 12 LE is significantly lighter than its predecessor, yet the bus’s passenger capacity has been increased. The vehicle which will be presented at the exhibition is fitted with a Euro 6 Cummins ISB6.7 engine which meets the most restrictive fuel emission standards. Furthermore, by the fact that the exterior of the new family of Solaris buses has been unified, operators will be able to use many identical components and spare parts for different models of Urbino, including the low-entry version.
Further premieres During Busworld 2015, Solaris also will present a new concept bus in the midibus class. As subsequent models of based on the new Urbino construction, Solaris will introduce new Urbino 12 CNG and new Trollino 12 next.
