China: Auto sales Surge in Jan
06 February 2009
News from relative bureau said that Chinese auto sales are likely to hit 79,000 units in January. That's a little less compared to a year ago but still much higher than figures in the United States where sales hit a 46 year low in the first month of the year. In Beijing, the capital city of China, the auto sales exceeded 60 thousand units at last month, up 17% year-on-year.
Auto experts analyse that the government issued a series of policies recently, oil prices were lower and sales taxes was cut, etc. These policies greatly helped passenger car sales. Experts also say the good market performance is not just because of government policies. Automakers are also promoting attractive pricing and improving product quality. Many foreign ventures have invested heavily in developing tailored models to fit the Chinese market.
Most of automakers have great confidence of Chinese auto market in 2009.
