BYD Fan Welcomed Home as Hero after “Fight of the Century” in Las Vegas
20 May 2015
www.chinabuses.org: BYD executives attending the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholder’s Meeting in Omaha on May 2, 2015, noticed with joy that one of the most popular topics of conversation at the event was the boxing match between American undefeated champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Filipino Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on that same day. The match, dubbed “The Fight of the Century”, had long been awaited and was the highest-grossing match in boxing history, also with a record worldwide audience. The fight ended with one more victory for Floyd Mayweather, but Manny Pacquiao grossed 120 million dollars out of the match nevertheless.
Mr. Pacquiao is a proud owner of a BYD F5 Suri – he is mad about the remote control.
In spite of the defeat, Manny Pacquiao was received as a hero by his countrymen upon returning to his homeland, with a press conference held for him in Manila, followed by a 13-vehicle motorcade – among which there was one BYD L3 and one BYD S6 – around the capital, to celebrate Pacquiao’s greatness as a public figure who uses his fame and resources to engage in active charity and social work in his country.

BYD’s presence in the Philippines grows stronger by the day, with Mr. Pacquiao as a long-time fan of BYD cars and technology – he owns a BYD F5 Suri because he was really impressed by its cutting-edge features, most importantly the remote control technology that he thinks is really neat, and found it in no other vehicle available in his country – as well as the recent victory of the BYD F0 at the First Philippines Micro Series of the Circuit Showdown Series at the Batangas Racing Circuit in Rosario, Batangas, making it the first Chinese-produced car to win in circuit racing.
