www.chinabuses.org: According to the statistics of State Tax Administration, a total number of 46,200 units of new energy vehicles enjoyed vehicle purchasing tax exemption in 32 provinces and municipalities across China from Sept. 2014 to Feb. 2015. Among them, 39,700 units are passenger vehicles and 6,512 units are commercial vehicles. Suzhou-based Higer, with a total number of 1,382 units of buses exempt from such tax in this period, ranks the top place among its counterparts in commercial vehicle industry.
In Aug. 2014, in an effort to speed up the eco-transformation of the nation’s transportation system, boost the development of environmentally friendly industries and new energy vehicle industry, China’s Ministry of Finance, State Tax Administration and Ministry of Industry and Information jointly released an announcement, proclaiming that all electric vehicles, certain types of plug-in hybrid vehicles and battery vehicles (imported vehicles also included) are exempt from vehicle purchasing tax from Sept. 1, 2014 to the end of 2017.
A closer look at the data also shows that the number of electric buses which have been exempted from the tax has long exceeded the number of plug-in hybrid buses, indicating that electric buses have already held the lion’s share of the new energy bus market.
According to Wang Xinliang, Director of Higer Brand Marketing Dept., the bus maker has become the big winner in this new round of competition thanks to its constant heavy investment in promising field and its foresight to realize the huge market potential of the new energy vehicle industry. By deepening its cooperation with some prestigious universities in China, such as Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Beijing Institute of Technology, it has long mastered the core technologies in this field. Take the whole vehicle control system for example, the key technology for new energy buses, Higer has won 18 national patents, including 6 invention patents.
After over a decade’s constant research and development, Higer electric bus boasts high reliability and is capable of driving for 100-400 kilometers continuously. Moreover, its energy consumption per 100 kilometer is less than one third of a traditionally diesel powered vehicle. To date, the total number of Higer new energy buses has reached 5,000 units, which are working smoothly in a number of mega cities in China, such as Guangzhou, Tianjin, Nanjing, Suzhou, Haikou, Kunming, Changzhou, and Nantong.
In the first quarter of this year, Higer’s orders have already exceeded the orders for the whole year of 2014, showing that the bus maker is ready for a bumper year.
