GM Wants More
17 November 2008
General Motors is seeking to raise its stake in its commercial vehicle venture with SAIC Motor, China's biggest automaker. GM wants to increase its 34 percent stake in SAIC-GM-Wuling, a three way tie-up between the US automaker, SAIC and Liuzhou Wuling Automobile. GM's China spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
SAIC owns 50.1 percent of the venture, which makes vans and small trucks under the Wuling brand. The brand accounts for roughly half of GM's China vehicle sales.
