Wuhan Plans to Introduce 300 New Energy Buses

27 June 2014

www.chinabuses.org: According to Wuhan Public Transport Group, the city is planning to introduce 300 units of new energy buses with a total value of 450 million RMB.

In response, a number of bus makers are making every effort to gain the market. Not long ago, Nanjing Golden Dragon announced that it would make an investment of two billion RMB in an effort to set up a research & development as well as manufacturing base of electric buses in the city. After completion, the base is expected to roll out 10,000 large, medium and light buses each year. Dongfeng Yangzijiang, a leading local bus brand, is now working against the clock to upgrade its production line and technologies so as to win the market. According to Zheng Liang, director of the company's Market Dept., the company boasts an annual production volume of 5,000 units.

According to sources, the electric buses currently in operation in Wuhan city are chiefly provided by Dongfeng Yangzijiang and Donghu Yixing. Plus, its hybrid buses are chiefly from Xiamen King Long and Dongfeng Yangzijiang.

A staff from BYD reveals that the company has not received any orders from Wuhan. Since 2013, BYD has been working hard to explore the market. Given that it will soon build its own bus manufacturing base in the city and its K9 electric buses have been well received in a number of domestic cities, BYD is planning to further expand its market presence in Wuhan.
