MII Makes Efforts to Stop Local Protectionism
03 June 2014
www.chinabuses.org: "Currently in an effort to further promote new energy vehicles, China's Ministry of Industry and Information (MII) is planning to speed up its efforts on stopping local protectionism", revealed by Xu Yanhua, deputy director of China Automobile Industry Association.
According to sources, such a move is a response to Vice Premier Ma Kai's investigation made in Mar. this year. At a conference on "Promotion and Application of New Energy Vehicles" held then, the Vice Premier pointed out one of the eight key things that needed to be done is to stop local protectionism that still existed in many areas.
On May 21, MII invited representatives from 39 demonstration cities for promoting new energy vehicles and asked their suggestions. At the conference, one of the themes is to discuss how to get rid of local protectionism. According to a representative who attended the conference, the MII may roll out new policies and regulations to put a stop on protection in mid Jun. at the latest.
According to Xu, what is for sure now of the new policy is that the national government will further standardize the national market and any local governments will not be qualified to make any other independent corporate entry or industrial entry plans.
