First Batch of Electric Buses in Tianjin Covered 3.6 Million Kilometers in One and a Half Year

www.chinabuses.org:On the 7th, Tianjin Public Transport Group informed us that the first batch of 40 Tianjin pure electric buses has covered 3.6 million kilometers in one and a half year since first put into operation on August 8, 2012, carrying 7.5 million passengers, with single bus covering maximum 100,000 kilometers. The performance was stable and the battery did not show significant attenuation.


Deputy General Manager of Tianjin Public Transport Group Zhang Yaguang said in 2012, Tianjin bought the first 40 pure electric buses through bidding and four brands, namely Yutong, Sunwin, Ankai and Youngman, were selected, with 10 buses for each brand. Put into operation for a year and a half, these 40 pure electric buses were well reviewed by the drivers and passengers due to their safety, smoothness, comfor, low noise, zero emissions, and zero-failure.


"At the end of 2013, the Group purchased another 150 pure electric buses. The current total of pure electric buses is 190, with the previously purchased 40." Zhang Yaguang said.


It is reported that as the second batch of new energy vehicle demonstration cities, in the next two years, Tianjin will widely apply 12,000 new energy vehicles in eight major areas like public transport and postal courier, among which there will be 2,000 pure electric buses.

 
Zhang Yaguang said, in order to achieve this objective, the Bus Group plans to buy 600 pure electric buses in 2014.


In order to actively develop pure electric buses, Tianjin Public Transport Group is also working with BYD Automotive Industry Corporation to found the BYD Tianjing Automobile Co., Ltd. and construct new plants in Wuqing Auto Industrial Park to meet the needs of the developing new energy vehicles and pure electric vehicles in Tianjin.
