Brisbane Bus Lines use Allison Transmission for its school buses and local lease buses. Two new Citystar Artic are also used in and around Brisbane.

Rodd Hood,GM of Bonluck Importer-Bus and Coach Sales Australia, “Allison transmission has very good gear shifts performance. Buses are lighter than trucks. The comfortableness of drivers and passengers is of great importance. This means clumsy gearbox is not the first choice here. The Allison transmission provides smooth gear shifts so that the driver could put his attention on the road condition to make the passengers more comfortable and safer.

Hood added, “Many drivers say that the Bonluck buses equipped with Allison transmission actually can save fuel compared with those equipped with other automatic gearbox."

Bonluck stopped the marketing of manual gearbox buses five years ago, due to the market pressure, its reliability, efficiency and maintenance costs.

Mr. Hood explained, “We decided to realize full automation in 2008 to accommodate the market. It turns out that it was a wise decision. Our products are very popular in the market.” He also added, “With the hydrodynamic retarder built in, the Allison T390R series gearbox can actually prolong the life span of the brake system and increase the buses’ security.”

“We asked specifically for Allison transmission with hydrodynamic retarder built in order to reduce the attrition of the brake system and increase the buses’ security.

Allison’s sustaining after sale service is the main reason why Bonluck Bus Corp in China and Australia choose to use its gearbox.

In the end, Mr. Hood mentioned, “Allison provides Australian market with perfect after sales service and is in close cooperation with China’s manufacturers. Some operators in the remote areas can’t afford the loss for downtime and they just need to make a call and they will get the technical support from Allison.”
