BYD Response to LAANE Protest in Los Angeles

www.chinabuses.org:BYD is perplexed by the misinformation being spread by Madeline Janis’ advocacy group, LAANE. BYD has been in a standard product testing phase in accordance with regulatory guidelines. We have just received customer approval to start manufacturing our green technology buses, and look forward to hiring more California workers for those jobs. BYD is also dedicated to properly paying its employees under California’s wage and hour laws.
Questions have been raised about the wages paid to a few technology experts who are visiting here temporarily from BYD’s parent company in China to train our American workforce and to assist with the transition from overseas of our state-of-the-art design, but the information being disseminated is incomplete. We have reached out to the California Labor Commissioner’s office to address these issues and hope to reach a conciliatory and satisfactory resolution. BYD is fully committed to being a good corporate citizen and employer in California. We are thankful for the opportunity to partner with the city leaders in this state to build environmentally-friendly, safe and efficient buses to enhance public transportation in our communities.
