www.chinabuses.org: On September 12th, 40 Gen II pure-electric city buses were used in Route 455 and Route 496 in Beijing. Each lightened new bus with the weight of 1.2 tons is able to carry over 10 more passengers than before.

The 40 new city buses are produced by Foton, boasting that each bus saves 11kwh per 100 km compared with its predecessor and reduces the emission of 105kg CO2 per 100km than a diesel bus.

It's said Beijing Bus Group is planning to add 170 more pure-electric city buses in 2013, including 50 new plug-in ones debuting in Beijing public transit.
