22 July 2013
www.chinabuses.org: Chinese automaker Build Your Dreams (BYD) has commenced the testing of its new Pure Electric Bus in Uruguay.
The bus will be tested by the La Compania Uruguaya de Transportes Colectivos (CUTCSA), the Uruguay transport authority, on different routes in Montevideo to evaluate the performance of this bus.
The vehicle will be powered by two electric motors that offer a top speed of 88km/h along with a transit range of over 250km in the city.
According to the company, the BYD battery technology is capable of fully charging the batteries in five hours using the AC charger that delivers power output of 60KW.
The company claims that the rechargeable battery system developed by its engineers is capable of providing lesser energy consumptions for both operators and the national state.
CUTCSA's fleet travels over a distance of 270,000km, while using 85,000L of diesel per day and the new buses are expected to reduce fuel costs as well as CO2 emissions.
