Pure-electric Bus Policy yet to Improve

www.chinabuses.org: For the development of new-energy vehicles, the government promulgates a series of policies, under the support of which China new-energy vehicle industry has laid the foundation of industrialization after 10-year R&D and market operation, and key technologies such as battery, motor, electronic control and system integration have made the great progress, however, the problems related can not be ignored.
The 25 demo cities are facing many problems. First-tier cities such as Beijing and Guangzhou, etc. are making slow progress in the promotion of new-energy vehicles including pure-electricity city buses. The main problems are: flawed subsidy policies, overheated battery, severe degradation of battery performance, high failure rate and shortage of charging piles. etc.
Recently, the industry has reached a consensus that new-energy vehicles should be promoted in public transit field first, where hybrid city buses are more popular than pure-electric ones.
"Besides technical obstacles and imperfect supporting facilities, public transport enterprises will be hesitated when purchasing pure-electric city buses without annual fuel subsidy, which can reach over RMB100,000. Current subsidy policy, like a one-time deal, is unable to promote the market." An industry insider told the reporter.
