Bosch Rexroth Revenue Grows to ?6.5 Billion

www.chinabuses.org :Bosch Rexroth sees a satisfactory increase in sales volume last year, by realizing a revenue of €6.5 billion. Although Chinese market developed at a slower pace, the European one turned down, but, as a leading player in global machine-manufacturing and automatic equipment markets, Bosch Rexroth still achieved highest sales volume in history. “The global machine manufacturing industry went through slow recovery in 2010 and 2011, and lost the dynamic in the latter half of 2012,” said CEO of Bosch Rexroth, Karl Tragl at a press conference during the Hanover industry exhibition, “in the long term, market will regain the growing power”. The company is fully poised for challenges in 2013.
Market performance was brilliant in the first quarter of 2012, but global investment slows down after that. This trend is supposed to last till the middle of 2013, which may cause negative impact on the machine and equipment industry. For example, construction machinery industry in China sees demands reduce by 40%. “China was the backbone of global market in the economic crisis from 2008 to 2009. But in the past year, the USA replaced to play that role,” said Dr. Tragl, “our business is all over major global markets, thus, we are able to make changes and strategical adjustments according to market demands, which is the reason we achieved good business results in a slowing down global market.”
At the same time, economic crisis gets worse in some European countries. “Predicted Chinese market will slow down in the upcoming period, we believe European markets will also weaken”, said Dr. Tragl. Ever since the latter half of 2012, orders are on the decline, affecting several factories. As of the end of 2012, the company employs around 37,500 people worldwide, among which, 18,900 are based in Germany. Some factories are taking measures reducing working hours because of the lack of buying orders.
Bosch Rexroth expects a new round of development in the summer of 2013 in markets like China. Meanwhile, the American market will maintain a good momentum. In Europe, uncertainty of the debt crisis will affect investment. “In a whole, 2013 will be a tough year, but we will try to gain more market share despite the harsh environment,” said Dr. Tragl.
In spite of the sluggish economy, the company still invested €370 million into R&D, representing 5.7% of sales amount, surpassing the average level of the industry. In 2012, Bosch Rexroth invested altogether €178 million into new factory constructing, machinery-updating and R&D. “we were highly praised for not being influenced by the short term difficulties, and standing closely with customers,” said Dr. Tragl. The company will commence construction of factory in Ahmedabad, India. Besides, the factory in the USA will be enlarged to twice the current size.
High energy efficiency as well as a more comprehensive machinery-manufacturing and automatic equipment is the two major trends in the industry. To follow the trends, the company raised the “Rexroth 4EE”, which not only advocates the need to inspect and eliminate energy consumption, but also the need to evaluate and optimize the energy demand of the whole system. What’s more, the company focuses on working out a solution to develop high efficient spare parts. The innovative maintenance is also of great significance, like how to increase availability rate of wind generating equipment.
The theme of Hanover industrial exhibition is “industrial integration”. And Bosch Rexroth is at the frontier of the development as it always was. “We believe machinery manufacturers, relying on the unmatchable processing control and expertise in engineering, will be the major pushing power for the trend,” Dr. Tragl stated. Because of that, Bosch Rexroth works on the integration of a wider range of mobile devices, such as smart phones and tablets. This new attempt will enable machinery makers the rights to customize software, and consequently, realizing the networking of all departments within a company.
