08 March 2013

www.chinabuses.org: On March 5th, during the interview of NPC&CPPCC Special Show hosted by CNR Voice of China, Minister of MOST Wan Gang said there were happiness and worries in the development of new-energy vehicles and we should promote the application of new-energy vehicles in public transit. Last year, over 27800 new-energy vehicles were used in 25 cities, 80% of which being city buses and the number is expected to reach 39800 units.

Speaking of "happiness", Wan Gang said the ordinary people began to realize the contribution new-energy vehicles make to the environmental protection. Someone intends to take electric vehicles and some drivers feel proud to drive new-energy vehicles.

Wan Gang still have many worries: the cost, charging piles, consistency, service life and safety of batteries, etc. Many basic researches need to be made. He thought the biggest problem facing the industry was coordinated development.
