Higer Innovates in Engine Auxiliary Braking System
18 December 2012
www.chinabuses.org: MIIT No.632 Document and GB7258-2012 standard says from September 1st, over-9-meter buses (over-8-meter school buses) would be equipped with retarders or other an auxiliary braking devices. It's said Higer started using retarding devices before the release of relevant regulations.
Bad mountain roads in Western China and jammed roads in Eastern China cause frequent braking. However, light and medium buses can't be equipped with retarders due to space limitation. Higer finds the best way for auxiliary braking without installing eddy current or hydraulic retarders, which is engine auxiliary brake.
Compared with retarders, engine brake is advantageous in simple structure, low cost and especially no need for maintenance. Engine auxiliary brake is able to keep heat balance and long-hour work. 24VDC electronic control makes it easier to arrange control system.
After years' R&D, Higer began to install engine auxiliary braking system in over-8-meter buses from 2011. Especially the venting engine cylinder braking technology developed jointly be Higer and Yuchai takes the leading position.
