www.chinabuses.org: On Oct. 26th 2012, first batch of 210 units of SAIC's commercial vehicle V80 were shipped from Shanghai Port to Melbourne Port in Australia. The country will be the first foreign market for Maxus vehicles. And it is also a important step in SAIC's commercial vehicle global strategy.

The front-drive van was originally launched in the UK in 2005 as the LDV Maxus LD100, but has since been modified, with suspension tuned by Britain’s Motor Industry Research Association (MIRA). The vans will both be powered by a 2.5-litre VM Motor diesel engine producing 130bhp and 245lb ft of torque. Standard features include rear barn doors, tire-pressure monitoring, 16-inch alloy wheels, dual sliding doors and door-integrated electric entry steps.

SAIC's Maxus brand has officially gained certification under the Australian Design Rules. According to reports, SAIC will use a dual-brand strategy for the exported Maxus vehicles. In certain areas, such as English-speaking countries, the manufacturer will use the LDV name, which it acquired in 2009. The Maxus name will be used in all other regions. The same logo will be used universally.

The British LDV name will be used as an international medium to demonstrate SAIC's technological advances in the field of commercial vehicles. SAIC's Maxus will make out new product layout according to Australian commercial vehicle market demand to meet the various fields the user demand. In the future period of time, SAIC's Maxus will provide 7 different types of models for Australia markets.

For other markets, SAIC has possessed a knockdown factory in Southeast Asia assembling its commercial vehicles for sales in Malaysia, Myanmar and other countries. The manufacturer also signed an agreement to sell commercial vehicles in Chile earlier this year. At the beginning of July, 102 units of  SAIC's commercial vehicles were shipped to South African. Now it gradually set up its global sales network for future development.
