Redesgined technology and fresh design for regional bus operation
Available in two lengths: 12 and 12.8 metres
Flexible customisation of specification to meet operators‘ requirements
Three types of engine and four gearbox models to choose from
A bus that always has the same specification, no matter what the real needs of its owners and operators are? Not so the Solaris InterUrbino, which has just been refreshed and now offers even more choice for bus companies, more than ever making it a flexible all-rounder. There is for example the new choice of length: depending on customers’ preferences, it may be either 12 or 12.8 metres long. And that is by no means all, as the interior can be customised and tailored as much as the basic technical parameters of this flexible intercity bus.
Within the powertrain, operators choose both engine and gearbox. Whether the full volume of the DAF PR-series or lively machines by Cummins or Iveco, three types of diesel engines each are available in several power ratings and meet the demanding Euro 5 and EEV emissions standards. Matched to the chosen gearbox – three automatic units as well as a manual one may be fitted to the bus – the drive train itself is ideally prepared for the challenges that the road ahead may offer.
Inside, the InterUrbino also evolves to fit its mode of use. Two specification packages take care of the basics, but are open to further customisation. In the high-end version, the new ceiling concept with glass luggage racks and individual lights and ventilation offers a pleasant, spacious sensation. With comfortable seats and a flush finish, the InterUrbino becomes the regional bus that passengers will love. But it also feels right at home as a school bus when fitted with an interior geared towards capacity and value for money. Depending on model, up to 59 seats can be fitted. They are accessed through two doors, with both single and double-leaf doors on offer at the centre of the bus. This is also where a wheelchair lift may be mounted to allow wheelchair users to come aboard the InterUrbino.
The fresh styling of the InterUrbino was drawn up by Berlin-based studioFT. The long-standing Solaris partner has taken inspiration from the dynamics of movement in the clear lines of the bus and has created an intercity bus that is instantly recognisable – the new Solaris InterUrbino will turn heads.
The environment has not been forgotten, either. The drivetrain naturally is environmentally-friendly and emissions are well below the current legal limits. But it is an economic bus, too – thanks to the attention paid to details such as low auxiliary energy consumption. To achieve this, one key innovation is the use of LED technology throughout, whether it is to brighten up the passenger saloon or for the safety offered by daytime driving lights.
Drivers, too, will feel comfortable aboard the InterUrbino. The ergonomic cab and intuitive dashboard allow them to concentrate on the job at hand: driving safely. In extreme situations, they are backed up by little helpers, with EBS and ESP safety programmes part of the standard specification.
