Sleeper Buses May Vanish in Five Years

www.chinabuses.org：Currently, there are nearly 30,000 sleeper buses in operation, for over-800km and 400km-800km passenger transport routes and some international routes, covering 31 provinces. In 2010, volume of passenger transport reached 180 million person-time, during the Spring Festival being 40 million person-time.
However, one serious fire accident of sleeper bus occurred on July 22nd, 2011, after which competent authority made many restrictions on sleeper buses. According to No.632 Article of MIIT and the Ministry of Public Security, MIIT refused the application of new sleeper buses before the publication of revised safety technology standard. Since March 1st, 2012, production and sales of sleeper buses have been stopped, which means sleeper buses would be out of the market in five years
