Henan Xinzheng to launch ¥1.8 billion EV project

www.chinabuses.org: The 27th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corp. signed a cooperation agreement with Xinzheng municipal government in Henan Province for a ¥1.8 billion ($285 million) electric vehicle manufacturing project in the city during the 7th China Henan International Investment & Trade Fair in March 2012, reported China Government Procurement News.
According to the agreement, the 27th Research Institute will build an electric vehicle industrial base in the city's Xingang industry park. The project covers electric vehicle research and development, and vehicle and key auto parts manufacturing.
As the first EV project introduced in Xinzheng, the base is expected to produce 200,000 EVs under the name "Zhongdian" annually. Vehicle testing facilities will be built in the base as well.
Several other places in the province have already tapped in electric vehicle manufacturing, including Zhengzhou, Sanmenxia and Xinxiang.
