Hubei to add 15 EV charging stations across the province

17 May 2012

www.chinabuses.org: Hubei Province is going to build 15 large electric vehicle charging stations and 150 charging poles across the province in 2012, reported Hubei Daily.

The news came from a recent symposium held in Hubei's Xiangyang City. The province aims to have at least one large charging station in each of its prefecture-level cities.

So far there are five large charging stations and 300 charging poles in the province: two stations in Xiangyang and three in Wuhan, the capital city.

The Dengcheng charging station in Xiangyang is the province first one which was put in operation in August 2010. Now a new battery-swapping station, the first such kind in Hubei, is to be built nearby the Dengcheng charging station.

Hubei is stepping up efforts to develop new energy vehicles when the Wuhan-based Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd. announced earlier this year that the company's small EV EJ02 would go for volume production and market launch at the end of the year, with initial sales aimed at 200 units.
