www.chinabuses.org: Over 110 pure-electric buses running 2.25 million km refreshed the operation safety record.

Experts of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China said on 29th that since the opening of Linyi Jiaozuo charging station on June 23rd, 2010, the 110 buses equipped with LFP batteries ran 2.25 million km without safety failure within 400 days, refreshing safety record of pure-electric buses.

The experts said power batteries and controlling system were vital to safety of pure-electric buses. Linyi electric buses performed well thanks to the powerful batteries.

Pure-electric vehicle is regarded as the opportunity for China automobile industry to surpass foreign countries. However, as the pioneer secondary battery, Huanyu Group believed “safety” was more important than “surpass”. The president CHENG, Zhijie said it was unable to solve safety problem completely merely by advanced technology and the safety of power battery was the responsibility of manufacturers to enterprises, industry and consumers.

General Manager LI, Bingqiang of Shandong Luneng Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. in charge of the operation of charging station said there were no such problems as endurance or inconvenient charging thanks to fixed lines and city buses were bellwethers of low-carbon operation. An ordinary diesel bus cost 626.22 Yuan of fuels, 476.22 Yuan more than a pure-electric bus. Replacing 1000 internal-combustion engine buses for pure-electric buses may save 16.92 thousand tons of coals and reduce 24.12 thousand tons of CO2 emission.
