www.chinabuses.org: In August 2011, 50 bus manufacturers sold 21611 units of buses, year-on-year rises of 14.83%, i.e. 2791 units. Total sales from January to August were 146157 units, rising by 7.57%.

There are three outstanding features:

Sales of Large-and Medium-Sized Buses were Booming

In the year to August, total sales of large- and medium-sized buses were 94745 units, year-on-year rises of 9.97%, 2.4% more than average. 2010 witnessed the sales record of large- and medium-sized buses thanks to Shanghai World Expo and 10% of increase in 2011 reflected the flourish of large- and medium-sized bus market.

City buses made the greatest contribution to market segment. Total sales of city buses from January to August were 37674 units, year-on-year rises of 14%; sales of road buses were 56840, year-on-year rises of 7.25%. Although sales of city buses are fewer than those of road buses, growing rate was two times than the latter ones. Therefore, city bus is the main power of the market growth and road bus is still the foundation.

From the enterprises we can see that total sales of “Yutong, King Long, Golden Dragon and Higer” were 51086 units, accounting for 53.92%, year-on-year rises of 12.6%, including 24722 units of Yutong buses, year-on-year rises of 17.61%; 8969 units of King Long, year-on-year rises of 8.41%; 5263 units of Golden Dragon, year-on-year rises of 7.25%; 12132 units of Higer, year-on-year rises of 8.61%.

From market environment we can see that cooling of high-speed railways brings new opportunities for road buses. 7-time speeding up of trains and fast development of high-speed railways caused structural adjustment of road bus routes, during which many enterprises were impacted. Recently, slowing down the speed of bullet trains must cool the railway transport, providing new opportunities for further development of bus transport.
