17 August 2011
www.chinabuses.org: Contrast with the overall decline of commercial vehicles, sales of European model light buses increased. Industry insider said that European model light buses market kept stable for a long time and the new products would strongly boost growth.
According to the latest data from CAAM, in the first half of 2011, 2.1111 million commercial vehicles were produced, declining 6.07% and 2.2149 commercial vehicles were sold, declining 3.67%. Experts anticipated the sales of commercial vehicles would not be promising in the second half of 2011 due to national deflation policy.
As new vehicles such as JAC Sunray were gradually accepted by customers, sales of European model light buses kept increasing in the first half of 2011 by contrast with the overall decline of commercial vehicles. 143.7 thousand light buses were sold in the first half of this year, year-on-year rises of 10.29% with production and sales increasing 105.94%. Growth rate of European model light buses was over 20%, exceeding that of Japanese model light buses and overall rate of light buses.
Industry insider said that the growth of European model light buses market was because of urban transport demand and the “catfish effect” caused by the entering of new vehicles like JAC Sunray.
As the new vehicles of SAIC and Dongfeng entered the market, European model camp was expanding rapidly. The reporter learned that JAC Sunray (Express Version) was completed and would come into the market by the end of August and SAIC Maxus V80 in September, 2011.
