www.chinabuses.org: With the recovery of international markets after the financial crisis, China bus builders pay more attention to the exporting business. In this May, 80 Ankai 12-meter high-end buses exported to Russia and it is another big order for Ankai Bus after 3000 school buses to Saudi Arabia. Also, King Long Bus delivered 172 units buses to Malta in Europe.

Rising Unit Price for Exporting Bus

According to the related statistics, it has exported 2150 units coaches (above 30 seats), year-on-year growth of 0.33%, exporting amount of 4.06% up; 5690 units medium and light buses (among 10 and 29 seats), year-on-year growth of -5.37%, exporting amount of 0.2% down in China. It indicates the rising of the unit price of exporting bus. Benefiting from the big exporting orders, China bus builder hold high expectation of the sales achievements. Jiang Wentao, deputy general manger of Shuchi Bus showed that the sales objective was one time higher than 2010 (The company exports 1000 units buses to Algeria in this year). As for Ankai Bus, the proportion of the overseas sales will come to 30% of the total sales in 2011-2015 while 12% in 2010. In Jan.-May 2011, Zhongtong Bus refers to the exporting amount of 32 million USD, 100 million for the whole year as its plan, year-on-year growth of 60%.

Places of Export Changing

In past years, China buses mainly export to Middle East and North Africa. The political upheaval unfavorably affects the exporting to these regions. For example, it is known that a batch of King Long buses exporting to Egypt at the beginning of this year is still lying in the ports.

China bus builders have to open new overseas markets, however, the builders from Japan, Europe and America always occupying the market in Europe and North America and it is comparatively hard to have the access to these markets. According to Li Hongtao from Zhongtong Bus, the major overseas markets of Zhongtong Bus have gradually dispersed to Asian, Africa, America and Oceania rather on the original concentration on Middle East and North Africa. In 2011, China buses & coaches mainly export to the countries such as Brazil, Thailand, Mexico and Southeast Asia, southern Africa and middle Africa.

Targeted Research & Development of Models

China bus builders made some improvement of the mature models in the domestic market to adapt to the local conditions in the overseas markets in the past several years. In 2011, they have started to specially develop some new models for the overseas markets. For example, King Long XMQ6900J exporting to Malta is 9-meter low access city bus designed to be outfitted with proper axel (access floor height: 250mm) to meet the customers’ demand while usually two or three steps for the same type in China market, according to the engineer from King Long Bus.

Zhongtong LCK6127H is also specially designed for the high-end bus market in Russia and Europe, equipped with dash-proof detection system, TPMS integrated instrument display system, temperature alarm instrument, braking system with ABS/ASR and CAN instructor.
